The Informed Urban Prepper — Survival Defense: How To Build Targets For Shooting Drills
Posted by Mike Quam on
"Practicing surprise drills, situational drills, and tactical shooting in mock urban settings, is something that I do at least once a week. If business is slow and our online sales at, SurvivalFoodNow.com, isn't keeping me sitting here processing orders all day long, which isn't very often, I try to get to the range I built with my ex-pat, ex-military, prepper friends, at least two or three times a week. Skills learned during these type of shooting drills are essential for ALL preppers who plan on keeping their preps from would-be marauders and home-invaders during a SHTF or a TEOTWAWKI scenario."
Membership at a shooting range, plus covering the cost of ammo if you have to purchase it from the facility instead of bring your own, can be pretty expensive these days.
If you want to practice surprise drills in the dark hours of the morning to help with managing adrenaline response, during bad weather, or low lighting, it may not be possible at the range.
On the other hand, if you expect to defend yourself efficiently with a gun, there is no substitute for practice, including live fire drills and situational drills that you would be able to carry out at a range.
But if you have enough land, it makes sense for you to build your own wooden targets for shooting drills, and use them whenever you want.
Here are some tips for building wooden targets as well as getting the most out of them!
